Specially selected, 12 pastel Natural shell colors of Americauna, Rhode Island Red, Astrolorpe, and Buff Brama chicken egg ; the inside is the same as all free-range eggs: golden yellow. Beautiful pastel colored eggs in a see-through container; pink, blue-green, dark brown, or olive. These beautiful eggs, when boiled, make a lovely display. About our Auracauna Chicken: Very docile, these multi-colored and rare hens are free to live a great life of picking their foods and activities, with plenty of food, water, fresh air, sunshine, and shade. They love to dust-bathe for their health. Stretching out in a sunny spot and warming themselves for a while, even on summer mornings, is a favorite activity. But, once the sun is high, the whole flock pretty much heads for the shady spots to snooze or to scratch up a snack from under the leaves.

Along with grasses, these hens eat wild forage and wildflowers, acorns, seeds, sand, grit, and ground oyster shell for calcium. For those of you who don't care for blue-shelled eggs (for whatever reason) we offer to sort the brown ones out. These are the same quality as the blue shelled eggs. The hens are fed grain free of antibiotics or horomones.

So fresh, at the time you order, the hens may still be working on them.. 30 random mixed shell color eggs in recycled/recyclable cardboard flat with protective sleeve. *order rebate if you have one to refill or order carton if you need one. TIP Hard boiling: Any egg can be hard boiled, but the freshest eggs will probably not peel very well. The reason is that the egg membrane has not yet been infused with air. If you have fresh eggs and want to hard boil them, let them age a week or so first. This “problem” is not too common for store bought eggs.

These are big eggs from regular healthy brown egg layers. Certain hens just lay bigger eggs. Recipe "Chocolate Mint Banana Bread Recipe.":http://www.mountainvalleygrowers.com/recipechocolatemintbananabread.htm using extra large eggs. The hens lay the eggs in nest boxes in the barn during the day, and then go back out to pick, peck, cluck, and socialize. At night, the whole flock roosts in a huge airy barn, protected from night-time dangers. We try to keep their lives as natural as possible, and have actual tree limbs for some of the roosts. A deep layer of leaves line the roosting area, and the hen's nest boxes.

Our hens are free to choose pasture and their natural snacks. Hens snack all day, scratching out tidbits of grit, seeds, and live food. Live food builds healthy, lively hens, who lay these beautiful eggs! Egg Nutrition: A classic study published in Poultry Science in 1966 found that the color of egg yolks is a perfectly reliable index of carotenoid levels. The more beneficial carotenoids the eggs contain, the darker orange their yolks will be.
